Terms of Service

What MinuteTalk is

MinuteTalk is infrastructure for offering paid real-time conversations. You bring your own audience; we provide the booking page, payments, scheduling, and video. We are not a marketplace and we do not sell your services on your behalf. The relationship is between you and the people who call you.

Who can join

You must be 18 or older and located in a country Stripe supports for payouts. For now, creator pages and payouts are open to people in the US, Canada, the UK, Gibraltar, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and every EU country. You must agree to our Acceptable Use Policy, which defines what may and may not be offered. Adult content, sexual services, and regulated professional advice are prohibited without exception.

We ask you to confirm you are 18 or older when you create your account, whichever sign-up method you use. That confirmation is something you tell us, not something we verify. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18 we will close it and cancel any pending payouts.

What we charge

There is no signup fee and no subscription. We charge 10¢ for every minute of a call, free minutes included, deducted from your payout. When a client pays a call's minimum, or a cancellation or no-show fee, it's 10¢ for each minute that payment is for. Payments are processed by Stripe, and Stripe's card fee is also deducted from your payout — that fee is Stripe's, not ours, and varies by country and card type. Prices and charges are in US dollars, and so is what we send to your Stripe account. If you're paid outside the US and your bank account is in another currency, Stripe converts the money into that currency and takes its fee for converting it from what you receive. If you're paid in the US, you need a US-dollar bank account.

You set your own rate. We take no percentage of it.

When what a call brings in doesn't cover our fee and Stripe's card fee (for example, a call under Stripe's 50¢ minimum, a call cut short, free minutes, or a price below today's minimum), the rest comes off your later payouts. In a month you're paid, Stripe's $2 account fee and its payout fee (0.25% + 25¢ a payout) come off your payouts too. If you're paid outside the US, so does Stripe's cross-border payout fee. A refund of a payment you earned, made by you or by us, comes out of your payouts in full, including our fee and Stripe's card fee, unless we make it to fix our own mistake: then we pay for it. If you end a call or remove a client because someone under 18 is taking part, or report it after the call, your client pays nothing and you aren't paid for their part of the call; our fee for their minutes, and Stripe's card fee if their payment was taken, come out of your payouts, and so does what you were paid for their part if it had already been paid out. If a client disputes a payment, Stripe's dispute fees come out of your payouts whether or not the dispute is won. If it is lost, the disputed amount comes out too, including our fee and Stripe's card fee, except any part a refund had already returned to your client. If Stripe later reverses a lost dispute, we give back what the loss took from you, and its $15 countering fee if Stripe returns it. We pay the dispute fees instead only when our records show our own system got it wrong, for example a payment it took twice, a payment we owed back to your client and still hadn't refunded a day later, if it was disputed after that day, or a payment we had already refunded in full to fix our own mistake; if such a dispute is lost, you give back no more than your share of that payment.

Refunds and cancellations

Our Refunds and cancellations policy sets out when the people who book you are charged, what it costs them to cancel or miss a call, and when they get money back.

If a problem on our side means we don't take a client's payment for a booked call you had, the client still owes it. Your share, after the usual fees, is added to your earnings once they pay. Until they pay, you aren't paid for that call, and our fee for it doesn't come off your payouts. If we decide they shouldn't have to pay because of a mistake on our side, we pay you your share instead, worked out as if they had paid: what the call cost, less our fee and the card fee Stripe would usually have charged. It's added to your earnings and paid out as usual. If, before a call's payment is taken, our team finds that the card used for it was stolen, your client doesn't pay for that call and there's nothing to pay out for it; our fee for its minutes comes off your later payouts. A call that costs less than the smallest amount a card can be charged isn't charged, and there's nothing to pay out for it; our fee for its minutes comes off your later payouts.

The same applies to an instant call or a group call that a client had from their MinuteTalk account.

It also applies to a call a client had as a guest: we email them a link to pay it. Until a payment for a call or a booking is paid, a new call or booking paid with the card it was taken on may not go through, whoever is checking out.

Until a client has paid what they owe, whether it's a cancellation or no-show fee or a payment for a call they had, they can't make a new booking, start a call or join a group call from their account. A call they're already on, or a call they booked earlier, isn't affected.

Payouts

Payouts are handled by Stripe under a Stripe Connect account in your name. Each Monday we send your earnings whose 14-day hold has passed to that account, less Stripe's fees and anything else that comes off your payouts, and pay them out from there to your bank. Earnings from a payment a client is disputing wait until the dispute closes. If what's left in a week is too small to send after Stripe's fees, it's added to the next week. You must complete Stripe's identity verification before you can receive money.

Review and moderation

Profiles and service listings are reviewed before publication. Nothing goes live automatically. We may decline or remove content that breaches the Acceptable Use Policy, and we will tell you which section applies. You may appeal any decision, and appeals are read by a person.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time from Settings, with Delete account: one Delete closes the whole account, as a creator and as a client. You have 30 days to change your mind (sign in and choose Keep my account); if you keep your booked calls, until the last one has happened. Your page goes offline at once and nothing new can start; calls already under way finish as normal.

A creator chooses what happens to their booked calls: cancel them all at once, with every client refunded in full, or keep them and close after the last one. Your own bookings as a client are cancelled under the usual cancellation rules, and any fee is shown before you confirm. Earnings still due to you are paid on the usual schedule.

Money you owe MinuteTalk isn't cancelled when your account closes: it stays owed and comes off your first payouts if you come back. A cancellation or no-show fee, or a balance for a call you had, that you still owe as a client stays owed too, whether or not you delete your account, and you can't make a new booking, start a call or join a group call from your account until it is paid. If your email address was confirmed and you make a new account with the same address within 3 years of the booking or the call, you'll need to pay it before you can make a new booking, start a call or join a group call from that account. Your page address is never given to anyone else. How we handle your data afterwards is described in our Privacy Policy.
